Description

“Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman” is a series of anecdotes, thoughts and interviews from the life of Richard Feynman. His ideas and philosophy of life is coded in these entertaining and often humorous stories. But this book is far much more than that, as it follows the great adventures of Richard Feynman, both in science and personal life. Feynman was the quintessential inquirer whose investigations led him to sophisticated equations and new theories, at other times to a kind of social mischief that is both entertaining and delightful in its inspiring intellectual courage. So don’t miss this book, even if you’re not into science, as Richard Feynman was not only an incredible scientist but also a remarkable personality.

Richard Feynman, a winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, thrived on outrageous adventures. Here he recounts in his inimitable voice his experience trading ideas on atomic physics with Einstein and Bohr and ideas on gambling with Nick the Greek; cracking the uncrackable safes guarding the most deeply held nuclear secrets; accompanying a ballet on his bongo drums; painting a naked female toreador. In short, here is Feynman’s life in all its eccentric―a combustible mixture of high intelligence, unlimited curiosity, and raging chutzpah. A series of anecdotes, however, shouldn’t by rights add up to an autobiography, hence Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman also offers an in-depth investigation of the great legacy of Feynman in the world of physics.
