On Black Holes and Firewalls

Here’s a recent video from Sixty Symbols, in which physicists debate the recent ideas of Stephen Hawking. For those who haven’t been following the news, Hawking recently suggested that black holes do not exist… at least in a familiar sense. In particular, to solve various problems related to the black hole complementarity without resorting to firewalls, Hawking suggested we should get rid of event horizons and change them to “apparent horizons”.
