The Search for Intelligent Life: New Strategies

So around a half-century ago, astronomers began trying the search for radio messages from nearby star systems with a hope to discover life out there. These days SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) researchers continue to point their telescopes at individual stars with an ever-growing technical capability.

In this video Dr. Seth Shostak discusses the results of this search and the plans for the future. In particular, Shostak points out why it is possible that we might find evidence of sophisticated intelligence out there within only a few decades.
