James Burke has a reputation of producing and hosting great quality serious documentaries and “The Day the Universe Changed” is not an exception. Even though the original series firstly aired back in the 1985 and 1986, the documentary is still receiving mostly positive reviews these days. Of course, some of the viewers, who are used to the modern documentaries with high-tech flashy effects, might feel the lack of them in James Burkes’ works. However, if you are looking for a well crafted and informative documentary, the main aim of which is to educate the viewers, then look no further. I would like to recommend this box set for anyone looking for a dose of great information or for those who are simply curious to see what the old science documentaries were like.

As you can see in the YouTube excerpt above, the documentary is well narrated and the costume quality is great. Also, although this video doesn’t do justice to the audio and video quality of the DVD, the quality of this box set has been praised for great video and audio quality.
