Curious Folks Ask

“Curious Folks Ask: 162 Real Answers on Amazing Inventions, Fascinating Products and Medical Mysteries” is basically a collection of questions and answers on a variety of science related subjects. It’s one of those books that you can read a bit at a time and I think the simple format of the book (a question followed by an answer) really works well in general. So let’s take a look.

About the Author

Sherry Seethaler is a science writer and educator at the University of California, San Diego. She also writes a weekly column for the San Diego Union-Tribune in which she answers readers’ questions on nearly every imaginable science topic.

About the Book

As the title spoils it, it’s basically a trivia book, which deals with a variety of science related questions. The author, who has been answering such questions for years in the San Diego Union-Tribune does a great job of keeping the readers hooked, by choosing truly interesting questions and supplying useful information in the answers.

The questions are grouped into categories—ingenious inventions, body parts, pesky pathogens, health nuts, fascinating products and so on—whereas the answers range in length from slightly more than a page to a few sentences.

All in all, I would recommend this book for trivia fans or basically anyone, who’s looking for something fun and simple to read.
